Dr. Rosaura "Rosy" Bagolie

Assemblywoman Dr. Rosaura “Rosy” Bagolie (D - Essex, Passaic) proudly represents New Jersey Legislative District 27 and sits on the Financial Institutions & Insurance and Education Committees. She brings a unique perspective to the legislative table - being a Jewish-Latina immigrant whose family emigrated from the Dominican Republic to America in search of a better life, chasing the American Dream. A lifelong teacher and school administrator who truly believes in the transformative power of education, Bagolie has risen to the top of her profession to serve as Principal, Superintendent, and Chief School Administrator of the East Newark School District, where she is one of the few women in the State to serve in that capacity.
Asw. Bagolie attended Seton Hall University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences, earning her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, also at Seton Hall. She then obtained a second Master’s Degree in Special Education at Rutgers University. Asw. Bagolie is also a Certified Business Administrator.
Prior to being sworn in as a member of the General Assembly, Asw. Bagolie sat as Councilwoman in Livingston Township, serving on the Township Planning Board, the Committee for Diversity and Inclusion (LCDI), the Advisory Committee for Disabilities (LACD), Council Liaison for Senior, Youth, and Leisure Services, as well as the Emergency Planning Committee.
She is a member of Temple B’nai Jeshurun in Short Hills and resides in Livingston with her husband, Ricky, who is an attorney, and together they are blessed with three remarkable sons.
