Carmen Theresa Morales

Assemblywoman Carmen Theresa Morales serves in the New Jersey General Assembly for the 34th Legislative District. She is a member of the Education Committee, Commerce, Economic Development, and Agriculture Committee, Joint Committee on the Public Schools, and Joint Committee on Economic Justice and Equal Employment Opportunity.
She made history as the first Puerto Rican Assemblywoman in Essex County, continuing her journey of advocating for education, community advancement, and empowering women. She is a dedicated education professional with over 22 years of experience in the field. She is currently serving as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Essex County Schools of Technology. Prior to assuming her current role, she held the position of Principal at Essex County Newark Tech High School, her alma mater. She is the first in her family to attend college and has earned a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree, and an Education Specialist degree. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education at Seton Hall University.
She is also an active member of her community and served on the Board of Trustees at Essex County College. Additionally, she is a proud lifetime member of her sorority, Lambda Theta Alpha, Latin Sorority, Inc., where she has held various leadership positions
